Where serious readers take business books apart, and put them back together honestly.
What We Are
Chester Business Book Club brings together business owners, senior leaders and professionals for regular sessions that go well beyond the dust jacket. We read the book, interrogate the evidence, challenge the methodology, and ask whether the advice actually holds up under scrutiny.
The format is discussion-led, not lecture-style. Attendees come prepared; the conversation does the work. No nodding along at sweeping claims. No uncritical celebration of bestseller status. Just an honest, well-informed exchange between people who take ideas seriously.
The club was started by Chester-based tax and accounts partner Andrew Hague as a straightforward experiment in accountability. If you book a ticket and tell people you've read the book, you probably will. The aim is to get past the cover and actually extract something useful from the books that litter every business owner's shelf unfinished.
Tickets are £10. Any surplus goes to charity. One ticket per order. Venues are confirmed on each event listing.
Where We Meet
Abode is in Chester city centre, close to the city walls. Mitchell Charlesworth's offices are on Sealand Road, a short drive from the centre. Parking is straightforward and there is good access from the main routes into Chester.
Chester is well connected by rail from across the region. Full address and any travel notes are confirmed on each event listing.
